SKY ICT Public Company Limited, in collaboration with Kasetsart University, has officially launched “Sky Aviation Lab,” Thailand’s first smart airport simulation center. Operating as a real-world “Sandbox,” the lab aims to cultivate and elevate the capabilities of Thailand’s aviation personnel, ensuring they are fully equipped to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation.
The state-of-the-art laboratory replicates every step of an actual airport journey—from check-in and baggage drop to boarding—featuring advanced aviation technologies such as:
- CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment): A universal check-in counter system that integrates and manages passenger travel data across more than 100 global airlines.
- Self Check-in Kiosks: Automated self-service kiosks designed to reduce congestion at traditional counters.
- Self Bag Drop Systems: Automated baggage drop machines that allow passengers to independently check in their luggage into a smart conveyor system.
- Self Boarding Gates: Automated boarding gates utilizing Biometric technology for facial scanning and motion tracking to verify passenger identities against their original travel data before granting aircraft access.
The core vision of this project is to bridge the “gap between academic learning and real-world execution.” By leveraging this Sandbox environment, students gain hands-on experience with actual industry systems, learning to analyze data, think critically, and make informed decisions under real conditions. This directly prepares them to transition seamlessly into the aviation industry after graduation.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in driving Thailand’s educational ecosystem forward. It serves as a vital catalyst in upgrading and transforming national airports into true smart aviation hubs.
